Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The role of the Pharmacy Technician is dispensing, preparing, and distributing pharmaceuticals/medicines, surgical supplies, medication requisitioning, and inventory management.
TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Maintain inventory and follow shift handover protocols under Pharmacist supervision.
- Accurately fill prescriptions according to patient profiles.
- Dispense, pack, label, and promptly deliver medications.
- Monitor stock levels and prepare supply requisitions.
- Maintain Cath Lab/Radiology consignment records.
- Obtain signed forms and update inventory for used consignment supplies.
- Sterile Room:
- Assist in medication selection, preparation, packaging, and labeling.
- Prepare sterile admixtures, TPN, and chemotherapy as per protocols.
- Follow aseptic techniques and USP 797/800 requirements.
- Maintain inventory, temperature/humidity, cleaning, and equipment records.
- Ensure pharmacist’s final check before releasing preparations.
- Support quality assurance, waste disposal, and staff training.
- Biosafety Cabinet:
- Operate and maintain the biological safety cabinet.
- Assist in IV chemotherapy and cytotoxic medication preparation.
- Verify patient details and calculate doses/volumes accurately.
- Follow aseptic, hazardous waste, and USP 800 requirements.
- Perform required checks and maintain records.
- Prepare and forward departmental requisitions to the warehouse.
- Receive, inspect, and properly store supplies according to required conditions.
- Follow FEFO/FIFO and proper medication storage practices.
