Job Description

For Deputy Manager:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy Department, including Inpatient, Emergency, and Pharmacy Store services, ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with hospital policies.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, procurement, stock replenishment, storage, and distribution while maintaining optimal stock levels and ensuring compliance with good storage practices.
  • Supervise the receipt, inspection, storage, and issuance of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies in accordance with established policies and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and inventory records, including goods receiving notes (GRNs), purchase requisitions, stock reports, and interdepartmental records.
  • Monitor inventory performance by reviewing fast-moving, slow-moving, near-expiry, expired, and damaged stock, and implement corrective actions to minimize wastage.
  • Conduct and coordinate routine and surprise inventory audits to ensure inventory accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory management systems, including item master updates, stock monitoring, and reporting.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to pharmacy and store staff, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and operational standards.
  • Prepare regular operational and inventory reports and communicate key findings and recommendations to the Manager Pharmacy.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and applicable pharmacy regulations.
For Manager: 
  • Lead and oversee all pharmacy operations, including drug management, inventory control, and pharmaceutical services, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
  • Develop, implement, and monitor pharmacy policies, procedures, SOPs, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered pharmacy services.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, including DRAP requirements, licensing, medication safety, and controlled narcotics management.
  • Oversee inventory planning, procurement, budget management, and formulary administration to ensure cost-effective and uninterrupted pharmacy operations.
  • Coordinate pharmacy services across all hospital departments and satellite facilities to maintain operational excellence and continuous service improvement.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage pharmacy staff, including workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, scheduling, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary committees to establish and maintain the hospital formulary and support evidence-based medication management.
  • Monitor departmental performance through audits, reporting, and quality assurance activities, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Prepare and present departmental reports, executive summaries, and strategic recommendations to support organizational goals and decision-making.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and excellence in pharmaceutical care.
