Job Description
The HR Compliance and Sustainability Specialist ensures that the Indus’s workforce practices are compliant with all Pakistan and international labor laws while simultaneously driving initiatives that support environmental responsibility, social equity, and ethical governance. This role acts as a bridge between legal adherence and sustainable, long-term business strategy, creating a workplace that is both ethical and environmentally conscious.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Compliance & Risk Management
- Regulatory Monitoring: Stay current on changing employment laws, labor regulations, and health/safety standards.
- Auditing: Conduct regular audits of HR policies, procedures, and employee data to identify risks, such as IRCA compliance, pay equity, and non-discrimination regulations.
- Policy Development: Update and implement HR policies, employee handbooks, and procedures to ensure adherence to legal requirements and ethical standards.
- Investigations: Lead investigations into employee grievances, harassment, or compliance violations, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions.
2. Sustainability (ESG) & Social Responsibility
- Green HR Initiatives: Implement eco-friendly workplace practices (e.g., reducing paper, energy conservation, remote work policies) to lower the carbon footprint.
- Social & Diversity (DEI): Develop and promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, fair labor practices, and community engagement.
- Supply Chain Ethics: Work with procurement to ensure suppliers adhere to ethical labor standards (e.g., no child labor, fair wages).
- Reporting: Collect and report on sustainability metrics (e.g., employee turnover, diversity, training participation) for internal and external ESG reporting.
3. Training & Culture
- Compliance Training: Deliver training on topics such as anti-harassment, data privacy, and ethical conduct.
- Sustainability Education: Educate employees on sustainability goals and foster a culture of "green" consciousness.
- Engagement: Drive employee involvement in sustainability initiatives, such as volunteering or "green teams".
Knowledge: Strong understanding of labor laws (e.g. OSHA), as well as sustainability frameworks (e.g., GRI, ISO standards).
Skills: Exceptional analytical ability to audit data, strong communication skills to drive behavioral change, and proficiency in HRIS systems.
