JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Research Associate will play a key role in the scientific and analytical components of the project, including research design, data collection, analysis, and manuscript development. The position requires demonstrated research experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to synthesize findings into academic publications and presentations. The incumbent will work closely with the Study PI and collaborating researchers to ensure high-quality scientific outputs and dissemination of study findings. He/She will also be required to complete a short online training in qualitative research in healthcare to effectively support the study’s qualitative components.
TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Research Planning & Design
- Support the Study PI in refining study objectives, methodologies, and tools for both qualitative and quantitative components.
- Contribute to the identification of key research questions and variables for data collection.
- Develop data collection instruments (questionnaires, interview guides, observation tools) and ensure
their alignment with study objectives.
- Assist in preparation of study protocols, amendments, and ethics submissions
Data collection & management
- Coordinate and supervise data collection at participating pediatric oncology outreach centers.
- Ensure adherence to standardized protocols for both quantitative and qualitative data gathering.
- Conduct and/or supervise in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and field observations as
required.
- Maintain quality control and integrity of collected data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Data Analysis
- Perform quantitative data analysis using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, or R).
- Conduct qualitative data coding and thematic analysis using tools such as Dedoose or NVivo.
- Generate tables, figures, and analytical summaries for progress reports and publications.
- Interpret findings in alignment with study objectives and contextual realities of the outreach program.
Manuscript Development & Dissemination
- Lead the preparation of scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to writing abstracts, presentations, and posters for conferences and academic meetings.
- Collaborate with the PI and co-investigators in manuscript review, revisions, and submission processes.
- Support preparation of policy briefs or summaries for non-academic dissemination, where applicable. Monitoring & Reporting - Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual technical progress reports. - Document field activities, findings, and lessons learned systematically. - Support the PI in data interpretation and presentation for stakeholder and donor updates.
