Job Description
The Runner is responsible for assisting Junior Technicians, Technicians and Senior Technicians during all the Operation Theatre procedures.
- Independently perform the following tasks:
- Clean all OT and medical equipment.
- Arrange and ensure available of surgical instruments and consumable items for every procedure
- Verify and account for the availability of swabs and sponges before every procedure, informing surgeons if unavailable.
- Ensure documentation is complete and properly recorded (including consumption forms).
- Ensure all protocols are followed when shifting patients from the OR to the recovery room (patients should be clean, dressed and covered).
- Ensure all patient safety measures are implemented.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping to ensure cleanliness of the OR is maintained.
- Effectively coordinate and communicate with surgeons and OT staff
Perform all tasks as assigned by the Head of Department.
