Job Description
The Kitchen helper supports the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Hostel Mess by assisting
with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas and ensuring
hygienic food handling practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wash, peel and cut vegetables, collect / remove food waste, garbage from the food processing areas; dispose of food waste and ensure the food service facility meets FSD Standards.
- Clean and sanitize washing sinks, preparation and service counters and all kitchen equipment including pots, pans, utensils, exhaust hood etc.
- Assist in preparing simple food items like salad, raita etc. Measures and assembles ingredients for cook.
- Wash and clean all used dishes and utensils from Mess and kitchen. Load / un load dishwashers, and ensure all clean items are stored in the designated area.
- Dispose of Kitchen waste properly and sanitation process.
- Help in arranging and serving food to the hostel residents.
- Assist with clearing and cleaning after meals. Maintain cleanliness wash and clean chairs and tables, utensils and other items as directed by the duty supervisor.
- Help in un-packing and storing groceries and supplies.
- Report shortages or spoilage of food items to the supervisor.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols; wear gloves, aprons and head cover during work.
- Ensure proper handwashing and cleanliness
- Support cooks and kitchen staff as directed.
