Job Description
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures, including upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, ERCP, and other related interventions.
- Prepare and maintain endoscopic equipment, ensuring proper sterilization, calibration, and functionality before and after each procedure.
- Provide patient support before, during, and after procedures, including explaining the process and addressing concerns.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and comfort levels during procedures and report any concerns to the medical team.
- Handle specimens collected during endoscopic procedures, ensuring proper labeling and transfer to the laboratory.
- Maintain a clean and organized endoscopy suite, following infection control and safety protocols.
- Document procedure details, equipment usage, and any incidents accurately in patient records.
- Assist with inventory management by ensuring adequate stock of necessary supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to hospital policies, regulations, and best practices for patient care and medical procedures.
- Assist in patient intake, transport, paperwork, and recordkeeping of physician observations, as directed.
- Place devices to monitor vital signs on patients, including blood pressure cuffs, surgical cautery pads, cardiac monitoring electrodes, pulse oximeter sensors, and nasal cannulas.
- Distribute information regarding equipment or instruments at in-service training sessions.
- Validate and refresh basic professional skills through active participation at in-service trainings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by HOD.
