The Plasmapheresis Technologist will be responsible for performing plasmapheresis procedures and ensuring the safety and comfort of donors throughout the process. This role includes setting up and monitoring equipment, maintaining a clean and sterile environment, and adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines. The technologist will work closely with medical staff and donors to ensure high-quality plasma collection.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plasma Collection Procedures:
• Conduct plasmapheresis procedures following established protocols.
• Ensure the donor’s comfort and monitor their well-being throughout the procedure.
• Set up, operate, and maintain apheresis equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
2. Equipment Management:
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain apheresis machines and other equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed.
3. Donor Screening & Safety:
• Conduct donor eligibility screenings, including medical history review and pre-donation testing.
• Monitor donors during procedures, managing any adverse reactions or complications.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and regulatory requirements.
4. Quality Control & Record-Keeping:
• Maintain accurate records of donor information, procedure details, and plasma collection metrics.
• Follow protocols for proper handling and labeling of plasma.
• Perform routine quality checks and report any discrepancies or non-compliance issues.
5. Team Collaboration & Training:
• Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide excellent donor care.
• Train new staff on plasmapheresis procedures and equipment use.
• Experience: Previous experience in plasmapheresis, apheresis, or blood collection is Advantageous.
• Skills:
• Strong technical skills with the ability to operate and troubleshoot equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for donor interaction.
Inventory Management also included maintaining stock.
Other Tasks.
- Analyze laboratory findings.
- Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids including blood, urine, and CSF.
- Check the accuracy of results
- Calibrate and operate all instruments in the Bio-chemistry Lab
- Run quality controls on daily basis, review Lj plot , run EQA and its interpretation
- Inform all abnormal results to related Dr/ consultant
- Proper storage of samples of abnormal results
- Follow instructions of infection control and ISO.
- Instruct and train juniors and trainees
- Issuance of reports
- Rejection of tests if required
- Rejection of samples on certain criteria prescribed in SOPs
- Repetition of test if required
- Daily consumption of inventory
